Kayak The Mashpee River and Popponesset Bay

Join us as we kayak the Mashpee River and Popponesset Bay in Mashpee. The Mashpee River encompasses three distinct habitats including freshwater, brackish and saltwater and is surrounded by the Mashpee Woodlands Conservation Area. Blueback Herring pass through these waters to and from their spawning grounds. Nesting marsh wrens and red winged blackbirds are plentiful along the shoreline and surrounding marsh and ospreys can be seen fishing overhead. Popponesset bay offers spectacular views and
This trip is intended for those with previous kayaking experience, yet all experience levels are welcome. Participants will be required to wear a life vest. Kayaks, paddles and life vests provided.

Instructions and Directions: For Mashpee River trips: Meet at town landing on Mashpee Neck Rd. From US 6, take exit 5. Drive on MA 149 south, and then turn right onto MA 28 north. Go 3.5 miles and turn left onto Orchard Road. Drive another 0.5 mile and turn right onto Quinaquisset Ave. A quick left will take you onto Mashpee Neck Rd; it’s 1.5 miles to the town landing parking area.

For Popponesset Bay Trips: Meet at Ockway Bay Landing parking lot, Mashpee. From US 6 (Mid Cape) take exit 5. Turn onto MA 149 south until you come to MA 28. Turn right onto MA 28 and drive approximately 5 miles to the Mashpee rotary. Take Great Neck Rd South following the signs to New Seabury. Drive 2.5 miles to the Ockway Bay Parking area on left.
