Chickadee Birders Club: Why is a Chicken not a Turkey? Sponsored by Drumlin Farm
Sun, Nov 22, 2009 1:30 pm - 4:00 pm Instructor: Becky Gilles Audience: Children (suitable for children ages 7 - 11 yrs) Fee: Children $20.00m/ $25.00nm We'll learn all about this interesting group of domesticated birds, and their wild fowl relatives, including the well-known turkey, the lesser known bobwhite, quail, grouse, and ptarmigan. Visiti our Poultry House, help with chicken chores, and get close up with different types of chickens.
The Chickadee Birders Club at Drumlin Farm is for children ages 7-11 (or grades 2-5). We will introduce elementary age children to the basics of birding, bird life, and seasonal migration through talks, activities, and field trips. Birding is a lifelong skill that can lead to a greater overall interest in the outdoors and the environment as a whole.
