Birding Nahant Sponsored by Drumlin Farm
Sat, Nov 21, 2009 9:00 am - 2:00 pm Location: Nahant, MA Instructor: Strickland Wheelock Audience: Adult Fee: Adults $40.00m/ $50.00nm This trip to Nahant will be a great adventure to several excellent early winter birding sites. Many winter vagrants like Yellow-breasted Chat and Orange-crowned Warbler can be attracted to the many thickets on Nahant along with a nice mixture of late migrants. We will work our way along the coastline looking for sea ducks, grebes, loons and alcids. We will hike on East Point for awesome views of the Boston skyline and many opportunities for a variety of species (shorebirds, ducks, pheasants, sparrows). Other potential spots to visit are Mass Audubon’s Nahant Thicket, Long and Short Beach, Lowlands Park, and Marginal Road. You will discover why so many birding teams start their Superbowl of Birding searches in Nahant - a birding gem a stone’s throw from Boston!
