Massachusetts Breeding Bird Atlas 2

MassGIS

MassGIS has designed a mapping tool to view the results from Atlas 1, and to locate and print block maps for Atlas 2 field workers. This link will send you to the MassGIS site, where you can locate blocks by name, use the tools on the right to enlarge or reduce your view, and select to view the range maps from Atlas 1. If you select "About the Atlas" from the MassGIS page you will return to MassAudubon.org.

Important Tool Tips

  • These maps are complex graphics, and you need to have your screen resolution set to 1024 X 768 or higher. If you have your monitor set below these specs you will not see the lines of the topographic maps.
  • If you turn your "Favorites" list off, you'll get a larger map in the viewer. Use the tools on the right to zoom or shrink the map before you print. Use the grabber hand tool to move around the state. Use the <I> button to get information on the block.
  • Your popup blocker must be turned off to print maps. Most blockers will let you turn off the blocker for just a few sites, rather than having you turn off the blocker for all sites. There are many types of popup blockers out there, some are on a toolbar your browser's screen, and some are buried.
  • If you use Firefox, the steps to take are:
Tools - options - content - block popups
At that point Firefox allows you to choose individuals sites to allow popups from.

Enjoy!
