Virtual Birders

Supporters who would just like to fundraise but not be on an official birding team can become “Virtual Birders".

Virtual Birders can designate their funds for any team they like, and have those funds count towards the team total. The Virtual Birders can compete for both the T-shirt and the new High Flyers Award (see prize descriptions).

To get started as a Virtual Birder,
you can set up your own fundraising webpage,
or send us an email for more information.

TEAMS - You can recruit as many Virtual Birders as you like - and the funds they raise count in your team's total!

Money raised by Virtual Birders counts towards prizes for fundraising. Birds counted by Virtual Birders do not count toward the birding prizes:

Fundraising Prizes (Virtual Birder funds raised are included in totals)

Birding Prizes (Virtual Birder bird sightings do not count)

  • Hatheway
  • $ Cup
  • Statewide Migration
  • T-Shirt
  • High Flyers
  • Brewster Cup
  • Forbush Cup
  • IBA Award

This means that if an official team already has 50 people, you can recruit Virtual Birders who might like to enjoy Bird-a-thon and fundraise without being on an official team, thus increasing the amount of funds you can raise.
