Top Individual Fundraiser Award

Acclaimed wildlife artist Barry van Dusen has generously donated the 2009 Bird-a-thon Top Individual Fundraiser award – “Mob Scene,” an original painting from his collection. He painted it for the cover of Bird Watcher's Digest, and it made the cover of the December 1992 issue.  The original is framed in a pewter tone fluted wood frame with a custom two-piece mat.  The framed piece measures 19" x 22."

It has been published both on the magazine cover and as an edition of limited edition prints, which adds to its value as a collectible work of art. It is a fabulous painting, which would look great hanging on that wall….Think about it! This could be yours!

Barry W. Van Dusen is an internationally recognized wildlife artist living in central Massachusetts.  His articles and paintings have been featured in Bird Watcher's Digest, Birding, and Birder's World magazines and he has illustrated a variety of natural history books and pocket guides in association with the Massachusetts Audubon Society.

In the last ten years, Barry's skills as a field artist have afforded him the opportunity to work and travel with other nature artists on projects sponsored by the Artists for Nature Foundation.  His travels to Ireland, Spain, India and Peru with the ANF, and his exposure to international artists with similar convictions, have deepened his commitment to fieldwork.

In the United States, Barry has developed a strong market for his originals through regular exhibitions in New England, and his work has gained a wider audience through his participation in prestigious annual national exhibitions such as Birds in Art (Wausau, Wisconsin) and Art of the Animal Kingdom (Bennington, Vermont).  In Europe, too, his art has found a receptive audience.  He regularly exhibits with the Society of Wildlife Artists (London) and his work has been exhibited in France, Holland, Ireland and Scotland.
