Local advocacy efforts are undertaken at each of Mass Audubon's sanctuaries. Contact your local sanctuary for a current description of advocacy efforts.

Advocacy's Involvement in State Task Forces
Jack Clarke, Director of Public Policy & Government Relations, has represented Mass Audubon in three state task forces. They include:

• Massachusetts Ocean Management Task Force Report & Recommendation
• 40B Affordable Housing Task Force Report & Recommendations *
• Environmental Law Enforcement Review Panel Report & Recommendations*

Heidi Ricci, Senior Policy Analyst, has represented Mass Audubon on two state task forces.  They include:

• Department of Conservation and Recreation Off-Highway Vehicle Enforcement Working Group

  • This work led to a new state law (Chapter 202 of the Acts of 2010) strengthening OHV enforcement tools
  
  
• DCR Forest Futures Visioning Process Advisory Group of Stakeholders

  • Final stakeholder recommendations

  • Mass Audubon’s involvement in and comments on the Forest Futures Vision

Jennifer Ryan, Legislative Director, represented Mass Audubon on the Energy Facilities Siting Commission which recommended changes to the permitting process for land-based wind projects. Jennifer also represents the environmental non-profit community on the Massachusetts Nonprofit Network Board of Directors.

Priscilla Chapman, Taunton Watershed Advocate, is a member of the South Coast Rail Task Force see Mass Audubon’s position statement on South Coast Rail* and serves on the Taunton River Wild and Scenic Stewardship Council.
