Family Camp
Be a camper for the first time, or the first time in years!
What is Family Camp?
Family Camp is a chance for families, couples, and individuals to enjoy the Wildwood Camp experience in a four-day session.
It's an opportunity for prospective or current campers to get a taste of Wildwood with parents, aunts, uncles, grandparents, or their other favorite adults. It's also a chance for Wildwood alumni to get together and enjoy our new facility, or for anyone who wants to join us for a few days.
Start a new family tradition and meet other families who enjoy camping and the outdoors! Family Camp is a place for families to share time together in a beautiful, rustic setting away from the pressures of modern life.
Boston Globe arts reporter Geoff Edgers and his family went to Wildwood family camp - read all about it.
What's there to do?
Join a hike exploring the forest, canoe around Hubbard Pond, create a masterpiece out of recycled materials in the arts & crafts center, or gaze up at the stars, learning facts and lore about the night sky.
Other options may include:
- High and low ropes course activities
- Bird walks
- Swimming and boating
- Wildlife demonstrations
- Campfires, singing, and skits
- Night hikes
- Pond exploration
- Nature walks
- Hikes at Mt. Monadnock or Mt. Watatic
...and much, much more!
Activities allow for groups to stay together or split up according to individual interests, and some activities are not appropriate for very young children. We do ask that children under the age of 9 be supervised at all times, unless specifically indicated. All programs are optional; if you'd rather spend your afternoon taking a walk around Hubbard Pond, or exploring adjacent Annett State Forest, you can do that too!
Where can we stay?
Families can choose to stay in one of our platform tents or rustic cabins. Each tent or cabin hold a maximum of eight individuals (including bunk beds), and is located in a group (or "unit") with a toilet and washing station nearby. Choice of housing is based on order of registration, so sign up as soon as you're ready!
Our shower house is centrally located, within easy walking distance of all units, and features composting toilets, indoor showers, and sinks.
Meals are served family-style or buffet-style, and healthy snacks and beverages are available in the dining hall throughout the day.
Check-in begins in the afternoon on the first day of the session, and Family Camp wraps up in the late morning on the last day of the session. Costs includes all meals and snacks, housing, and all activities at Wildwood.
