Programs for Schools and Children/Young Adult Groups
At Wachusett Meadow Wildlife Sanctuary, we offer a multitude of fun and educational nature-based programs for students from Preschool to High School, as well as College and Community groups. Twelve miles of trails traverse nearly 1,200 acres of woodlands, wetlands, and meadows, supporting abundant and diverse wildlife. Additionally, the sanctuary’s historic farmhouse and barns, resident sheep flock, and hay fields offer additional curriculum options and a unique opportunity to appreciate human and natural history side by side. Programs can be scheduled weekdays or weekends year round.

Schools
School groups may choose from a variety of options, such as sanctuary or schoolyard guided hikes, classroom visits, or a detailed, multi-session exploration of a particular habitat or topic. Wachusett Meadow educators are committed to creating engaging and interactive programs that are age/audience appropriate. Programs are aligned with the Massachusetts Department of Education frameworks with strands in Life Science, Earth Science, History, and/or Geography. Math-learning standards are included in many programs. Whether the program takes place at your site or ours, we will work with you to develop a curriculum that meets your needs.
