Give a Hoot! Gala – May 3

Sampler of auction items (PDF 32 KB)
2007 gala at Reebok
2007 gala at Reebok
Join us for an exciting evening at Reebok World Headquarters to benefit the children's education programs of the Mass Audubon Visual Arts Center. Enjoy live jazz and Latin music by The Jazz Marauders, sushi by Mai Place and the fine catering of Terrie Stone as the Mass Audubon's Visual Arts Center holds its third annual. Sample the area's first organic martini bar as you stroll through Reebok's dramatic setting, knowing that you are not only helping to fund classes for over 2,000 children this year, but fostering their curiosity, creativity and love of the environment.

A wide variety of silent and live auction items will be offered. Spend an afternoon nose- to-nose with the seals during a private harbor seal training session for four at the New England Aquarium. Keep a close eye on each swing and putt as you and a friend enjoy two seven-day passes to the Deutsche Bank Championship at the Tournament Players Club in Norton. Cheer on the home team with Red Sox tickets and much more.

Charley Harper (1922-2007), the late artist, writer, naturalist and conservationist will be honored. Harper, who described his work as "flat, simple and funny," focused most of his art on wildlife and is best known for the posters he designed for the National Park Service. His life and work are the subject of the recently published book, Charley Harper: An Illustrated Life by designer Todd Oldham. Charley's son, Brett, himself an artist, will attend the gala.

Lead sponsors, in addition to Reebok International, are Blue Hill Press, Commonwealth Wine and Spirits, Deutsche Bank, New England Aquarium, Orchard Cove, Playback Inc., Rodman Ford, and Terrie Stone Catering,. The gala committee, chaired by Betty Chelmow and Joan Schottenfeld, welcomes additional sponsors at any level. A pre-event VIP reception will be held for sponsors in Reebok's NFL Showroom.

Tickets are $60 and may be purchased by calling the Mass Audubon Visual Arts Center, 781-821-8853.
