Part-time Pottery Teacher Location: Canton, MA MABA is seeking one (or more) experienced pottery teachers for part-time work in a variety of teaching situations, possibly including: children’s afterschool classes, weekend programs for children and families, birthday parties, guest teaching in summer day camp and adult classes. Our equipment includes pottery wheels, a variety of tools, and soon, a kiln. We’re looking for enthusiastic teachers to join with us to expand our pottery programs. Volunteering with Mass Audubon Museum of American Bird Art offers a variety of exciting volunteer opportunities and internships for people of all interests and experience levels. Volunteers are valued members of the Mass Audubon team and provide an important link to our local communities. Volunteer Gallery Volunteer Location: Canton, MA Exhibition Gallery Visitor Services
Duties:
Welcome visitors and take admission fees. Sell Mass Audubon memberships and gift shop items. Provide basic information to visitors about Mass Audubon and the Museum of American Bird Art (MABA); the current exhibition, and exhibition-related children’s activities. Do occasional other tasks (e.g. assistance with a mailing, tidying gift shop displays) as time permits.
Hours:
Desired commitment is one 2-hour period per week (2:00-4:00), Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday or Friday. We request an initial commitment of 6 months.
Qualifications: Friendly, outgoing, responsible, good communication skills, able to work independently. Flexibility is essential, since duties will vary with fluctuating visitation. Experience working with the public. Familiarity with a cash register is a plus, but not required. Compensation and Benefits: MABA volunteers enjoy interacting with diverse audiences, extraordinary exhibitions and collections, and a dynamic staff. In addition, volunteers may have opportunities to view seldom-seen works of art in Mass Audubon’s collection and to meet visiting artists. MABA is pleased to reward volunteers for their hard work and dedication with a 20% discount on gift shop purchases, a 20% (occasionally greater) discount on programs, and an invitation to the special annual volunteer recognition event.
