Camp

Adventure Day Trip Instructor Counselor
Location: Sharon, MA

Lead small groups of older campers on day trips to beautiful sites throughout Massachusetts and beyond! You and your co-leader develop and lead active lessons that teach campers how to appreciate nature and one another. Camper ages range from 10 – 14. Each one-week session has a different theme—aquatic life, conservation, watersheds, organic farming, and more. Hiking, swimming, and canoeing are a part of most sessions. Three sessions include an overnight. Training includes natural history elements as well as teaching techniques. Qualifications: Applicants must be at least 20 years of age with 3 years of driving experience; have experience working with and enjoy being with pre-teens and have ability to lead groups over rough terrain. Must have canoeing, camping and outdoor cooking experience and be a good swimmer. Must have ability to design and implement nature-based activities including group bonding games. Preferred applicants are studying or have a degree in a life science, outdoor recreation, or education. Current certification in CPR and first aid is required (training opportunities are provided).

Schedule: Training begins June 5th. Camp runs Monday – Friday, June 18 – August 24, 2012 with an option to work until August 31st.

Benefits: $340 - $390/teaching week with additional pay for overnights. Training is provided at minimum wage.

Camp Instructor Counselor
Location: Sharon, MA

Moose Hill Camp is looking for enthusiastic young people who have the desire to actively enrich the lives of children through hands-on nature activities, games and crafts. Have fun exploring our extensive trail system and the diversity of life found in our upland forest, meadows, red maple swamp and vernal pools with small groups of campers who range in age from 5 - 12.

Join our team of staff who enjoy learning and working together. Your role is two-fold—first as a counselor who supervises the campers’ health and safety, promotes positive youth development, and plays games and second as an instructor who connects children to nature through hand-on learning activities. The camp provides you with goals as well as some activities for each weekly session. You and your partner will work together to create additional age-appropriate lessons, games and crafts. Training includes natural history elements as well as teaching techniques. You can visit www.massaudubon.org/moosehill and select for summer camp to learn more about us.

Extended Day Counselor
Location: Sharon, MA

Plan, prepare and lead activity options for Moose Hill Camp’s Extended Day program. Program offerings include snack, crafts, active games, short walks, and quiet-time.

Qualifications: Applicant must have experience working with children, preferably in a camp or school environment. Current First Aid and CPR certification is required (training opportunities are provided). Must be at least 18 years of age.

Schedule: Weekdays, 2:45 p.m. – 6:15 p.m., June 25 – August 24, 2012. A late start date or vacation may be considered. Additional hours as a substitute camp counselor may be available.

Benefits: $8.50 - $9.50/hour Training rate at minimum wage.

Seasonal

Seasonal Farm Worker
Location: Sharon, MA

Moose Hill’s Community Supported Agriculture program provides fresh, organic produce to over 300 families weekly. This position’s responsibilities include tending, harvesting, boxing and loading vegetables four mornings a week. (approximately 10-25 hours/week). Farm workers will be part of a team that also facilitates harvesting with shareholders and their children.

Qualifications: Must be willing to work hard, communicate effectively and serve as a role model for shareholders. June through August with a September option as well.

Visitor Services Staff
Location: Sharon, MA

For a rewarding opportunity to experience the many aspects of Moose Hill and interact with visitors, join us as a Front Desk Reception Volunteer. Qualifications include a pleasant and professional manner. Duties include greeting and welcoming visitors, answering telephones, program and membership registration, assisting with the Nature Gift Shop and various changing activities. We offer ongoing training and support, and some Mass Audubon benefits as well. Should be available one morning and/or afternoon during the week.
