Programs for Schools and Children/Young Adult Groups

At Ipswich River Wildlife Sanctuary, we offer a multitude of educational and fun nature-based programs for students from age 2 to age 18. We have over 2,000 acres of interesting habitats including fields, vernal pools, forests, swamps, islands, and eskers, as well as eight miles of the Ipswich River that meander through the sanctuary. The diverse terrain creates ideal habitat for a wide variety of organisms. Please allow us to share this amazing place with you!

  • Signs of the Season
  • Insects
  • Seeds and Plants
  • Local Ecosystems

Schools

Under the guidance of our education staff and field teachers, students investigate, explore, and marvel at the wonders of the natural world, while gaining valuable knowledge in the life and earth sciences. Each program is inquiry-based and aligned with the Massachusetts Department of Education frameworks with strands in Life Science, Earth Science, History, and/or Geography. Math learning standards are included in many programs. Whether the program takes place at your site or ours, we will work with you to develop a curriculum that meets your needs and the frameworks.
