Innermost House Rental
The Innermost House is a small cabin located in the Ipswich River Wildlife Sanctuary. The House is a rustic cabin down a short trail from the sanctuary’s Visitor Center – once the property gates have closed in the evening you will have the entire sanctuary to yourself. The cabin has only one room (9" x 16') with a cot and one bunk bed (upper and lower bunks), a wood-burning stove, and a small table with 2 chairs. We provide firewood. Restrooms are located nearby. All this makes for a pioneer-like experience at night: complete obscurity to gaze at the starry sky, the sounds of wildlife around the cabin, and except for that, total silence to drain yourself of urban life's tensions.
The cabin is available for rental to Mass Audubon members year-round, Tuesday through Sunday nights (also Monday-holiday nights and Monday nights in July and August). The cabin is not available for rental on New Year’s, Thanksgiving, and Christmas.
Cost: $30 per night
Maximum: 4 people
Check-in Time: You may check in any time after 2:00 pm, but before the office closes on your reservation date. Check-out time is 11:00 am on the last morning of your stay.
Amenities: 3 beds (1 bunk bed, 1 cot), table with 2 chairs, wood stove, firewood, picnic table.
What to Bring:
- Food, Water, & Cooler (if you want to keep anything cold)
- Sleeping Bags, or sheets and blankets for the beds
- Trash bags
- Cooking Equipment (pots, utensils, stove)
- Flashlights
- Battery-operated lantern (no open flames)
- Insect Repellent
