Learn From our Sanctuary Docents

Docent and Visitors at Ipswich River
Docents are on duty:
Between Labor Day & Memorial Day,
Sundays, and Monday holidays,
10:00 am to 4:00 pm.
Sunday visitors have a wonderful opportunity to enrich their experience by learning from knowledgeable Sanctuary Docents. Docents are volunteers who are committed to learning about nature and sharing their knowledge with others and can be found at interesting locations on the property.

Docents interpret a number of topics, in a variety of habitats using hand-on materials including natural objects, nets, magnifying glasses, telescopes, and field guidebooks.

Sunday visitors can also join a Docent on a free 60-minute nature hike that begins at 1:00 pm in front of the Nature Center. These nature hikes are for all ages and can be a wonderful way to learn more about Massachusetts wildlife.

Docent discusses butterfly sightings with Ipswich River visitors.
