The Campaign for Ipswich River

Your gift will help us reach our goal!

 Campaign Highlights
Over $795,000 raised, less than $105,000 to go!
Ipswich River Case Statement

Ipswich River Wildlife Sanctuary is a magnet for school groups, botanists, bird watchers, garden clubs, adults, and families alike. We have had continued success awakening a love of nature in people. Now it is time to focus on improving our facilities to ensure we meet, and exceed, the expectations of our visitors.

Through a renovated Visitor Center, a new education building, and a Conservation Barn for maintenance activities, we will be poised to raise the profile of the sanctuary and to build a stronger community.

CAMPAIGN INITIATIVES

Phase 1 – The Gateway Project (completed!)
$395,000

To create a memorable experience for our visitors, we needed to ensure that they encounter a welcoming gateway to the sanctuary. We renovated the Bradstreet House Porch to create a new Visitor Center and gift shop that is bright and welcoming. An added benefit of this plan is the creation of an all persons accessible restroom in the Bradstreet House, and the separation of offices and public space.

Phase II–The Educators’ Place and new Conservation Barn
$505,000

With education at the forefront of our mission at Ipswich River, we plan to build the Educators’ Place where teacher naturalists can work, prepare for classes, store materials, and collaborate on projects. The space will include work tables, cabinets and possibly a teaching area. Currently, our educators use a small hallway to do all their preparations which has become unsustainable as our programs have tripled in size in the last ten years. View a video of our teachers and students in action.

To make space for the Educators’ Place, we plan to build a new and much-needed maintenance barn. Ipswich property staff care for the trails and open space at six north shore sanctuaries. This new Conservation Barn will consolidate their workspace and equipment (which is now split between three unheated buildings) into one facility specifically designed for these essential sanctuary functions.

CAMPAIGN HIGHLIGHTS

So far, we have raised over $795,000 towards our goal. We are looking to begin construction on the Conservation Barn in the winter of 2012/2013. We will then look to completing our fundraising and constructing the Educators’ Place in the fall of 2013!

Ipswich River Wildlife Sanctuary is a gem, and our goal is to share it with people in an enhanced way that will spark and nurture their love of nature. By making these important changes, we know we can create a meaningful and magical visit so people will want to return again and again.

We cannot do this work without your help. Thank you for your support in making this vision a reality.
