Facility Rentals

Weddings and other special functions

The Habitat Wildlife Sanctuary offers a uniquely beautiful setting for weddings, receptions, and other events—either indoors or out. The house, built in 1914, has been hosting weddings and formal functions since 1977. Habitat’s facilities are also available for business meetings and conferences.

Facilities in the house include an 750-square-foot living room with a working fireplace, a solarium, wood floors, and floor-to-ceiling windows on three sides. The living room is also used as an art gallery, with month-long shows that focus on natural history themes. There are two smaller rooms suitable for setting up buffets, for seated dining, or for dancing. A large kitchen with a commercial-size range and refrigerator are available for use by caterers. Second floor rooms may be used by the wedding party for dressing and preparation.

The site fee for formal functions is $2,800 for a five hour period, which cannot begin before 11 am or go later than 8 pm. The fee includes tables and chairs. A 30 x 40-foot tent can be rented from a designated vendor and set up on the lawn adjacent to the living room and formal gardens (cost is approximately $1,000). The maximum capacity for any function is 100 people.

Habitat's formal gardens offer a splendid variety of plants, flowering trees, shrubs, and flowers throughout the year. The garden is in bloom with tulips in the early spring. The summer offers a classic mix of annuals and perennials. A variety of colorful chrysanthemums bloom in the fall.

Across the state, Mass Audubon operates wildlife sanctuaries that are open to the public and serve as the base for its conservation, education, and advocacy efforts. In keeping with the Mass Audubon mission and Habitat's location in a residential neighborhood, certain rules are in place regarding how the site can be used and the loudness of music.
