Groundhog Day Festivities and a Special Surprise: Mish Michaels! - Feb. 2

Who is Ms. G?
Drumlin Farm's resident groundhog, Ms. G
Drumlin Farm's resident groundhog, Ms. G

Will we have six more weeks of winter or an early spring? Join us as Ms. G, Drumlin Farm’s resident groundhog, gives her forecast for the rest of the winter at our Groundhog Day Celebration, Saturday, February 2, from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm. Activities include:

  • WBZ-TV meteorologist Joe Joyce will be broadcasting LIVE from Drumlin Farm from 5am to 8am! Check us out on TV to see how many layers to wear before you head over to the farm.
  • Learn the forecast for spring’s arrival from our resident groundhog weather expert.
  • Visit with more of our resident wildlife and farm animals, and explore the trails.
  • Attend special nature and farm programs.
  • Warm up by the fire with a story and snacks and make some winter crafts to take home.

Mish and students from the town of Wellesley submitted a bill to the Massachusetts State Legislature to make Ms. G the official “Groundhog of the Commonwealth.” It is called House Bill 1991: An Act to Encourage the Study of Meterology in Elementary Schools. To encourage these fabulous students as they prepare to speak at a public hearing in support of this bill, sign the Ms. G petition, and come join us to celebrate all things groundhog on February 2!

Special Programs Throughout the Day

9:15 – 10:00 am  Barn Buddies: Early arrivals can check out the animals in our newest building, the Crossroads Barn, before heading over to the weather forecast.

Our star Ms. G will also be available for photos at this time!
