Part-time

Lead Preschool Teacher
Location: Lincoln, MA

Join the Mass Audubon team … and be a part of Massachusetts’ largest conservation and environmental education organization! Drumlin Farm Community Preschool seeks a dynamic, energetic part-time teacher (16 hours/week) to teach hands-on farm/nature curriculum with a multi-disciplinary focus, to preschoolers on a working farm and sanctuary. Individuals will work with the director to implement, develop and oversee the preschool program in accordance with Mass Audubon’s goals and objectives, as well as MA state regulations.

Qualifications: EEC Lead Teacher certification, BA degree in Early Childhood Education or relevant field, and at least 5 years of experience working with preschool age children required. Experience in curriculum development, implementation and evaluation of programs desired. Teacher must possess a love of nature and teaching outdoors, along with an eagerness to learn how to handle animals (both farm animals and wildlife) within an educational setting for children and families. Strong communication and collaboration skills a must.

Compensation and Benefits: Benefits include Mass Audubon membership, employee discounts in Mass Audubon shops, and free admission and/or discounts to many area museums and cultural venues.

Weekend Teachers for Environmental Education Programs
Location: Lincoln, MA

Drumlin Farm Wildlife Sanctuary seeks part-time seasonal teachers for Saturday and Sunday environmental education programs beginning this summer. Develop and teach hands-on natural history and farm curriculum for all ages on-site at the sanctuary and farm as part of our drop-in visitor education program.

Qualifications: Experience working with children and knowledge of or interest in natural history and farming a must. Environmental education or classroom experience a plus. Applicants must be available to be scheduled a minimum of 2 weekend days per month, 9am-5pm. Weekday availability a plus but not required.

Compensation and Benefits: Hourly wage with paid training.

Volunteering with Mass Audubon
Drumlin Farm offers a variety of exciting volunteer opportunities and internships for people of all interests and experience levels. Volunteers are valued members of the Mass Audubon team and provide an important link to our local communities. Whether you have a lifetime interest in nature or are just getting started, Drumlin Farm has a place for you.

Volunteer

Crops Field Volunteers
Location: Lincoln, MA

Learn sustainable agriculture techniques as you assist our staff with seedlings in the green house, and classic field chores including seeding, transplanting, weeding, thinning, and harvesting vegetables. A wide array of crops and annual flowers are grown. Produce is sold at our on-location veggie stand, through our Community Supported Agriculture program, to restaurants and at downtown farmers’ markets. This is local farming at its best. Flexible scheduling is available. Small groups of volunteers (five to eight) are welcome as well as individuals. No prior experience is needed.

Qualifications: Must be at least 15 years old.

Farm Stand Volunteer
Location: Lincoln, MA

This volunteer position will be stationed at our refurbished farm stand. You will be responsible for sharing with the public information on the items we grow and sell. Topics will include sustainable farming practices, the seasonality of our produce, providing taste tests for the public, and information on our value added products. Farm Stand volunteers will assist visitors by weighing vegetables, making sales, and handing out recipe cards. Training provided. This docent-styled program runs from July through October with flexible scheduling.

Qualifications: Must be at least 16 years old.

Garden Group Volunteers
Location: Lincoln, MA

Get connected to Mother Nature! Join Drumlin Farm’s garden volunteer group. We will plant and maintain a butterfly garden, entrance gardens and the “Learning Garden”. Emphasis will be on native plantings that attract butterflies, hummingbirds and provide food for birds. The gardens consist of perennials, shrubs, herbs and veggies. All levels of experience are welcome.

Qualifications: Must be at least 15 years old.

Wildlife Care
Location: Lincoln, MA

Would you like to assist our Wildlife Care staff with the general care and maintenance of a collection of native, non-releasable wildlife? We are looking for dedicated volunteers to help us in the daily routine of cleaning / maintaining enclosures, and feeding select mammals and bird residents of Drumlin Farm.

Qualifications: Qualified candidates will have an interest in gaining experience in the animal care field. Individuals must be able to walk on uneven terrain, lift up to 50 lbs, work on their feet for hours at a time, and have the ability to bend, squat, crouch and kneel while cleaning all types of indoor and outdoor enclosures. Individuals must be age18 years or older.

Commitment: A minimum of one 4 hour morning (9:00-12:00) session a week (year-round); minimum of 6 months commitment required. Currently only weekday sessions are available.
