Canoe Meadows Community Garden

community gardenSpring is around the corner and thoughts of fresh vegetables and flowers are on our minds. We hope you plan on joining us for the upcoming 2012 gardening season.

Diane Wetzel, our volunteer Master Gardener at Canoe Meadows Community Gardens, will again be presenting two identical  programs about the ABCs of Organic Gardening at the start of the registration meeting scheduled for Wednesday, April 18, 7:00 – 8:30p.m. or Saturday, April 21 at 2:00 – 3:30p.m. Both will take place at Pleasant Valley Wildlife Sanctuary in Lenox. All gardeners new to our program wishing to have a site(s) at Canoe Meadows and those helping you garden that have not attended a prior meeting are required to participate in the full session. Pre-registration for this free program is required—please call our office to do so during business hours--413-637-0320. Registration for new gardeners will take place immediately following the organic gardening presentation.

Registration for veteran gardeners who have attended the organic gardening program will again be by mail this year. Past gardeners wishing to rent their previous year’s site/s must return their completed form and fee no later than April 6.  After that time, sites will be given out on a first come, first served basis.

community gardenWe will again be issuing identification cards to help us control theft, vandalism, and unauthorized uses of the gardens. Please have the card with you whenever you are at the garden site. Get to know your neighbors and don’t hesitate to ask to see identification. Note that these cards are not transferable to others.

Fees are $40 per site for non-members and $32 for MAS members. Please remember that as always, community gardens hours are dawn to dusk, but not to exceed 6 a.m. to 9 p.m. daily.

If you do not plan to garden with us this year please call or write to let us know so (your) site(s) can be assigned to others.

Please send us your email address if you wish to receive your notices by email.

Be among the first to know when the gardens are ready to plant by signing up to help with the garden set up! We can really use the help.
