Summer Reading at Broad Meadow Brook
Mass Audubon’s Broad Meadow Brook, the Literacy Corps of RSVP Worcester Area Volunteers, and Worcester Family Partnership announce the installation of a new StoryWalk™ book at Broad Meadow Conservation Center and Wildlife Sanctuary.
A Place for Birds by local children’s author, Melissa Stewart, is a hopeful book about what children (and people of all ages) can do to protect birds and conserve bird habitats.
The beautifully-illustrated pages are preserved on display boards which are then attached to posts and placed strategically along the welcoming and accessible Holdredge Trail. Visitors hike the trail while reading pages from the book.
A Place for Birds StoryWalk™ is a collaborative effort of the Literacy Corps of RSVP Worcester Area Volunteers and the Worcester Family Partnership. Previous StoryWalks™ on display at Broad Meadow Brook include:
- A Place for Butterflies by Melissa Stewart
- Stellaluna by Janell Cannon
- A Visitor for Bear by Bonny Becker
- Leo the Late Bloomer by Robert Kraus
A Place for Birds will be at Broad Meadow Brook through October 2012. Melissa Stewart’s books are also available for purchase at our nature gift shop. Come visit and make A Place for Birds part of your summer reading!
