Birding the Rio Grande Valley and Texas South Coast Adult Trip
Program Location: South Texas Leaders: Rene Laubach and Bob Prescott
Fee: TBD
Dates: March 13, 2010-March 21, 2010
Our travels will take us to some of the finest birding localities in the most bird-rich state in the union. From the vast salt marshes and bays of Aransas National Wildlife Refuge, where we'll see wintering whooping cranes from aboard the MV Skimmer; and the sandy barrier beaches of hundred-mile-long Padre Island, where shorebirds and waders abound, to the subtropical Rio Grande Valley, where green jays, Altamira orioles, least grebes, and great kiskadees are common; and the South Texas Plains with their desert-scrub birdlife. The vibrant cultural mix of the border region will also enrich our adventure.
Our departure city is Corpus Christi, Texas. Fee includes double occupancy lodging for eight nights (single supplement $300 extra), all breakfasts and lunches, some dinners, entrance fees, and van transportation.
