New Mexico is one of the best-kept birding secrets. From the raptor-rich highlands of the Sandia Mountains to the wetlands along the Rio Grande, there will be opportunities to see golden eagle, prairie falcon, red-faced warbler, painted bunting, western and Clark’s grebes, black-necked stilt, and white-faced ibis. Anasazi and Gila Cliff dwellings, Santa Fe, Bandolier National Monument, and Bosque del Apache National Wildlife Refuge are on our itinerary, as well as the Catwalk near the old mining center of Glenwood.
