Join us for a memorable week of birding as we travel through South Florida and the Keys including a boat trip to the Dry Tortugas. We will have daily opportunities to experience the remarkable inhabitants of this subtropical world – whether birds, tropical plants, reptiles or butterflies. We will be visiting many famous birding locations including the Everglades, Tamiami Trail, Lake Okeechobee, Big Cypress National Preserve and the Dry Tortugas plus several productive, lesser-known areas. Even though we will be seeing many spring migrants, our focus will be looking for all the Florida specialties as well as exotics in the Miami area. We will visit some amazing habitats in our week of birding, seeing thousands of waders, pelagics, shorebirds and passerines. We will also search for several species of owls, raptors and nightjars, plus make time for any super rarity that is near our route. Some of our target species are very difficult to see, like the Smooth-billed Ani, Mangrove Cuckoo and Short-tailed Hawk; others, like Gray Kingbird, Brown Noddy, and Magnificent Frigatebird, will be easy in the right habitat.
Open to anyone age 18 or older. A non-refundable, non-transferable deposit is required. Fees include all ground transportation, interpretive materials, entrance fees, and lodging. Fees are based on double occupancy; optional single rooms may be available for a supplemental fee. Personal items and dinners are not included.
