Martha’s Vineyard lies only 5 miles south of Wood’s Hole and this scenic island boasts a bird list of approximately 300 species. The island’s varied habitats include high bluffs for viewing seabirds, numerous ponds and bays for ducks, vast fields and thickets for passerines and a state forest for owls. We will explore all these and more over the weekend to experience the full avian variety of the island. We should witness thousands of sea ducks and pelagics on our sea watches and countless passerines in the fields and thickets all around the island. In the end, we could observe over 100 species including many rarities like Barn Owl, Yellow-breasted chat, and more!
