Teacher/Counselors Location: Easthampton, MA Position duration is from June 16 to August 29, 2008.

Blue Hills Trailside Museum Camp Instructor/Counselor Location: Milton, MA Work with kids ranging from age 4.5 – 14, during our Summer Camp located at the Chickatawbut Hill Education Center in the Blue Hills Reservation. Each week you will have a different field group of children to teach and to lead in their exploration of nature. Some paid natural history training will be provided. Broad Meadow Brook Wildlife Sanctuary After Camp Counselor Location: Worcester, MA Work with the After Camp Coordinator to design and plan fun and engaging activities from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. after the regular camp day. Broadmoor Wildlife Sanctuary Art and Nature Educator (1) Location: Natick, MA Plan, develop, and teach a variety of art activities that relate to, utilize, or reflect nature for campers entering grades 1 through 7. Environmental Educator-Canoe Instructor (1) Location: Natick, MA Co-Plan, develop, teach, and lead daily canoe trips on the Charles River and an overnight campout for campers entering grades 6 & 7. Teacher Naturalist Counselor Location: Lincoln, MA Drumlin Farm Day Camp provides a hands-on farm and nature experience for children ages 4 – 14 on a 232-acre wildlife sanctuary and organic farm. Our Teacher Naturalist Counselors promote positive youth development through exploration of farm, field, forest, and pond environments in small groups. Older camp groups expand the experience through programs focused on conservation, sustainable farming, and local cultural history. Our resources include a diversity of natural landscapes, a teaching garden, a 6-acre market garden, and farm animals, including cows, draft horses, goats, sheep, chickens, and pigs.
Teacher Naturalist Counselors (TNs) work as part of a team to develop and teach hands-on farm and nature curriculum to children. TNs facilitate campers’ observation of and participation in the natural world; topics include farm skills, gardening, wildlife observation, and animal care, as well as field, forest, and aquatic ecology. All TNs supervise campers’ health and safety on a daily basis and communicate with camp staff and parents regularly. Some programs include off-site and overnight travel.
June 9, 2008 through August 15, 2008, Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

Felix Neck Wildlife Sanctuary Fern & Feather is a summer nature day camp for children in grades K-8. Felix Neck Wildlife Sanctuary is a 350-acre sanctuary of pinewoods, oak forests, field, salt marsh and fresh and salt water ponds. Natural science activities focus on experiential learning. Our programs offer nature-based activities to campers: hikes, games, kayaking, off-site field trips, nature crafts, experiments, overnight camp outs and a wide variety of nature study. Qualifications:
· Must be at least 21 years old
· Have an undergraduate or graduate degree in environmental studies, science, elementary education, or related field.
· Must have previous camp or environmental education experience, preferably with administrative or supervisory responsibility.
· Good computer skills and creativity are important.
· A sense of your own teaching style, confidence, and a sense of humor are helpful.
· Candidate must also have an interest in camp/sanctuary administration as well as teaching environmental education.
· Must have or be willing to obtain necessary trainings/certifications, which can include: Lifeguard Training (including First Aid and CPR). Kayak experience and/or certification a plus.

Day Camp Instructors Location: Martha’s Vineyard, MA Design and team-teach age-appropriate natural history activities for campers using a hands-on experiential approach. Lead explorations, stories, crafts, nature games and activities such as seashore exploration, insect studies and ponding. Programs focus on ecological research, community service, teambuilding activities and natural history. Some camp session activities may include kayaking, overnight campouts and off-site field trips.
· Must be available June 10 – 12, and June 16 - August 15, 2008 for 40 hours/week

Habitat Wildlife Sanctuary Natural History Day Camp Instructors Location: Belmont, MA Habitat, named for its many diverse habitats, features perennial and vegetable gardens, ponds, vernal pools, meadows, and woodland trails. Instructors design and teach natural history lessons that focus on the various habitats and the organisms that depend on them. Activities include outdoor explorations, hikes, games, and nature crafts.
The following positions are available:
- Natural History Day Camp Instructors —Teach program for 10 campers, ages 6-9, that explores different natural history themes each day.
- Ecologists Instructors —Co-teach program for 20 campers, ages 10-13, that focuses on ecological principles, team building and outdoor survival. Program includes one overnight and one field trip per two-week session.
- Kindercamp Instructor —Co-teach day long program for 12 campers, ages 5-6 and morning and afternoon programs for 10 campers, ages 4.5-5 during theme weeks. Work with Camp Director in training and supervision of teen Leaders in Training (LIT).
- Trekkers Instructor —Co-teach program for 10 campers ages 12-14, where campers participate in day trips and camp-outs away from the sanctuary. Must have a valid driver’s license. Lifeguard or basic water rescue certification is desirable.
Qualifications: Positions require bachelor’s degree in environmental education or related field, work experience with children in outdoor settings and First Aid and CPR certification. Benefits: 40 hours/week. Salary starts at $9.00/hour and is commensurate with experience. Housing is possible. Moose Hill Wildlife Sanctuary Adventurer Instructor-Counselor (2) Location: Sharon Enjoy leading small groups of older campers on day trips to beautiful sites throughout Massachusetts and beyond! Develop and lead active lessons that teach campers how to appreciate nature and one another. Camper ages range from 9 – 14 depending on the session. Camp Instructor-Counselor (4) Location: Sharon Moose Hill Camp is looking for enthusiastic young people who have the desire to actively enrich the lives of children through hands-on nature activities, games and crafts. Have fun exploring our 20 miles of trails and the diversity of life found in our upland forest, meadows, red maple swamp and vernal pools with small groups of campers who range in age from 5 - 11.
Join our team of staff who enjoy learning and working together. Instructor-counselors supervise campers’ health and safety, promote positive youth development, teach nature-based activities and communicate with parents as well as staff. Preschool Nature Education Counselor (1) Location: Marshfield, MA Develop and teach natural history activities for children ages 4-6 in a small summer camp setting. The program combines crafts and games with sensory awareness activities, simple investigation, and firsthand observation of plant and animals life on our 150-acre wildlife sanctuary. Qualifications:
1. Education: BA or BS in early childhood education or related education degree with appropriate work experience. College students studying early childhood education who have day camp experience will also be considered; knowledge of the outdoors.

Visual Arts Center Camp Counselor Location: Canton The Mass Audubon Visual Arts Center is looking for an enthusiastic person who enjoys working with children and is comfortable leading hands-on activities, art projects, games and nature exploration at our 138 acre site. The counselor will supervise campers’ health and safety, promote positive youth development and communicate with parents as well as staff. Training will be provided in the area of natural history, art and teaching techniques. Qualifications: Applicants must be at least 18 years old and have experience working with children. An interest in art, the environment or science is important. Previous camp experience is a plus. First Aid and CPR certification required or willingness to obtain certification. Schedule is July 7 through August 1, 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Monday through Friday with possible teaching opportunities August 4-15. Camp training is June 10-12 with 2 overnights. Benefits: Salary range $9.00-$11.00 per hour, based on experience. Wellfleet Bay Wildlife Sanctuary Day Camp Instructor Location: Wellfleet 6/16/08-8/29/08
Work full-time at a 1000-acre coastal sanctuary on Cape Cod teaching natural history to children from
Pre-school to Grade 6 (will work with same age group all summer). Responsibilities include working with a partner to develop, plan, and implement natural history lessons, as well as conduct public programs for families on and off the sanctuary. Qualifications: Must be familiar with Cape Cod natural history (especially marine biology) and have experience working with children outdoors. Helpful to have or be working towards a Bachelor’s in Environmental Studies, Biology, Education, or related field, and be Red Cross First Aid/ CPR certified. Benefits: Salary starting at $9.50/hour, shared housing available at $30 per week.
