Property Manager II
Location: Natick, MA

Manage the facilities, equipment, and grounds associated with a large environmental education center and sanctuary operation. Perform a variety of custodial and maintenance duties for assigned buildings, exhibits, and grounds consistent with organizational policies, standards and procedures while exercising a relatively high level of independent decision-making responsibility. Maintain an overall approach to safety at the sanctuary, including equipment, building conditions, visitor and staff safety.

Supervise property staff, interns, and volunteers who assist in property management. Interview, hire and manage outside contractors doing work on buildings and grounds. Develop and manage a budget for all aspects of property management, including property, buildings, gardens, equipment, and vehicle maintenance. Work cooperatively with sanctuary staff including sanctuary director, education staff, office manager, and functions manager in support of Broadmoor’s goals and Mass Audubon’s mission. Create annual and long term plans for the maintenance of buildings. Create annual and long term plans for managing the property following the sanctuary’s ecological management plan.

Qualifications: High school diploma and a minimum of 5 years of related experience. Proven maintenance skills including knowledge of the safe use, maintenance and storage of power tools, equipment, heating systems and vehicles. A valid driver‘s license and the capacity to carry out various property related duties such as the ability to move materials and equipment weighing up to fifty pounds; climb ladders; walk or run on grounds for purposes of patrol and public safety; operate mechanical equipment such as mowers, tractors, trucks; handle live animals; carry out routine building maintenance and sanctuary security. Position requires demonstrated ability to work well with staff and volunteers and willingness to work a flexible schedule including weekends and evenings. It may be a requirement of the position to live on-site in Mass Audubon housing.
