Mass Audubon's Breeding Bird Atlas 2

Since 2007, we have once again been working with a large group of experienced and dedicated birders to compile a new set of data. Comparing this data to both BBA1 results and to changes in land use and development will provide a much clearer picture of the state of the birds of Massachusetts.

As we collect data, we update the USGS North American BBA Explorer, which provides public access to data summaries and maps.

Preliminary results are already being analyzed and published. This work will continue throughout the winter, as we await the start of next year's breeding cycle.

We have several ways that you can help, including forms for to report sightings of rare breeding birds, and some species we are particularly focusing on. You can also donate to support the Breeding Bird Atlas work.
