Wellfleet Bay Natural History Day Camp   brochure
The Wellfleet Bay Natural History Day Camp is designed to promote a child's lasting curiosity and concern for the natural world. Our goal is to instill awareness and appreciation of the natural world, to teach responsibility for the environment, and to promote an understanding of our place in nature. Camp activities are carefully planned to meet these goals and at the same time create a fun and memorable experience.

Campers range in age from 4-15, with some attending half a day, while others for a full day. We spend countless hours hiking our trails and exploring the Sanctuary. The older campers also travel off-site to kayak & snorkel in local waters, go on a whale watch or seal cruise, hike parts of the Cape Cod National Seashore, or shadow a field researcher for the day. Each week for each group is a different theme, so every week is unique!

As the camp's director, I'm looking forward to another summer season in Wellfleet. This year will be my 18th summer with this camp, my 14th as the Director. When I first started out working at this camp in 1993, the year 2010 seemed a bit futuristic. I am happy to say that over the course of almost 20 years we are still introducing children to the natural world through exploration, discovery, and fun. Whether we're beachcombing on the tidal flats, mucking about in the marsh, strolling along the pond's edge, or hiking through the woods, we continue to help foster children's sense of curiosity about the natural world.

Weekly sessions offered July 19-August 13 at the Highland Center in Truro. Campers, grades 2-5, will meet at the center and be transported to off-site conservation lands for a day of exploration and discovery. Corn Hill Beach, High Head Dunes, Race Point, Highland Light, and Village Pond are just a few places the campers will visit.
