Programs for Schools and Children/Young Adult Groups
Mass Audubon’s South Shore Sanctuaries (Daniel Webster and North River in Marshfield, North Hill Marsh in Duxbury) each offer unique learning opportunities. Whether at our sanctuaries or at your site, we offer fun and educational nature-based programs year round for students from preschool to young adult. Our location on the South Shore presents opportunities to learn about beach ecology in addition to fields, forests, and wetlands. An easily accessible trail system at each site combined with leadership by our trained naturalists makes each outing an adventure.
A sampling of our program topics:
- Habitat Exploration – Forest, Field, Pond, and Beach
- Plant/Animal Adaptations
- Life Cycles
- Nest Box Workshop
- Grassland Hayrides

Schools
South Shore Sanctuaries offer a variety of programs for schools geared to the age level and curriculum needs of the students. Each program is aligned with the Massachusetts Department of Education frameworks with strands in Life Science, Earth Science, History, and/or Geography. Math learning standards are included in many programs. Whether the program takes place at your site or ours, we will work with you to develop a curriculum that meets your needs and the frameworks.

** Mass Audubon is always looking for new ways to connect people and nature, and our new School Program Catalog is just one example of how we hope to accomplish that goal. North River - South Shore is one of the first Mass Audubon sites to be included in this School Program Catalog and we hope to have all of our wildlife sanctuaries in the catalog soon.
