Trail Restoration Projects
Location: Topsfield, MA
Thanks to grants from REI and the H.E. Thompson Foundation, we will be able to restore two trails this spring and summer. The Rockery Trail, one of our most popular trails, is wet and prone to continuing erosion due to a layer of clay just beneath the surface. To remedy this, we will place crushed stone on the trail and use hemlock ACQ pressure-treated ties to cut in steps along the steepest part.
The other trail we will be working on is the Innermost Trail boardwalk, which was damaged in the Mother’s Day storm of 2006, when four feet of water topped the boardwalk. The warped boards will be replaced and parts of the structure rebuilt.
If you can assist on weekdays (Monday through Friday) on either project, please contact us for more information.
