The Campaign for Ipswich River

 Campaign Highlights
Over $585,000 raised, less than $315,000 to go!
Ipswich River Case Statement

Ipswich River Wildlife Sanctuary is a magnet for school groups, botanists, bird watchers, garden clubs, adults, and families alike. We have had continued success awakening a love of nature in people. Now it is time to focus on improving our facilities to ensure we meet, and exceed, the expectations of our visitors.

Through renovations to the gateway buildings, a new program area, and a new maintenance facility, we will be poised to raise the profile of the sanctuary and to build a stronger community.

CAMPAIGN INITIATIVES

Phase 1 – The Gateway Project (Fundraising completed, construction in progress!)
$395,000

To create a memorable experience for our visitors, we need to ensure that they encounter a welcoming gateway to the sanctuary. We plan to renovate the Bradstreet House Porch and enhance the visitor center and shop so that it is bright and welcoming. An added benefit of this plan is the creation of an all persons accessible restroom in the Bradstreet House, and the separation of offices and public space.

Phase II–The Educators’ Place and new Conservation Barn
$505,000

With education at the forefront of the mission at Ipswich River, we plan to build the Educators’ Place, a space where teacher naturalists can work, prepare for classes, store materials, and collaborate on projects. The space will include work tables, shelving, cabinets, and heating, and a corridor will be built to connect the new space to the Bradstreet House. Currently, this space is in the hallways of the Bradstreet House.

To make space for this new building, a new and much-needed maintenance barn will be built. This will consolidate our buildings and grounds activities from three disconnected and dilapidated buildings into a single, safe facility specifically designed for these essential sanctuary functions. These improvements will allow us to remove the maintenance garage next to the parking area, opening up the landscape of the sanctuary entrance and creating a significant green space for program gatherings.

CAMPAIGN HIGHLIGHTS

So far, we have raised over $585,000 towards our goal. When we raise an additional $100,000, we will begin work on the Conservation Barn, leading the way to our ultimate goal of the Educators’ Place!

Ipswich River Wildlife Sanctuary is a gem, and our goal is to share it with people in an enhanced way that will spark and nurture their love of nature. By making these important changes, we know we can create a meaningful and magical visit so people will want to return again and again.

We cannot do this work without your help. Thank you for your support in making this vision a reality.
